About us
KHF stands for the High School Film Festival and is organised by the High School students of Ármúli. The Festival director is Ísold Ylfa Teitsdóttir, but she's just one part of the large team that organises the festival. KHF has been held annually since 2015 and was first held at the High School of Ármúli. After that it was moved to Bíó Paradís and will most likely be there permanently.
The idea for the festival came about during a class in the High School of Ármúli that dealt with event management, i.e. installation and organisation of events. The entire festival is organised by the students. They take care of financing, poster design, exhibition catalog, website and installation of the festival program. Short films are sent to the festival from all over the country. The goal is for as many high schools as possible to participate, so all high school students are encouraged to send a film and be active participants in this fun event. There is no shortage of diversity as the films come from all walks of life.
Here, young filmmakers have a golden opportunity to express themselves and submit a film. They might even find inspiration for their own projects by watching other short films by students. Every year well-known guests of honor come to the festival. Among them have been Ragnar Bragason, Jón Gnarr and Eva Sigurðardóttir. This year is no exception as guests of honor are expected who will both share their own experiences and entertain the festival guests, so at KHF there is a good opportunity to get to know the country's leading filmmakers. Well-known comedians will also visit the festival and entertain festival guests. Don't miss the Film Festival of the High Schools in Bíó Paradís! Admission is free! The festival is sponsored by the Icelandic Film Center and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
